Completed Drive |
|
Mount the assembly back in the original aluminum housing and retain with the 4 screws, 2 on each side.
On the side away from the white gear with the gear up, measure 31/32 from the end and 5/16 from the bottom.
Drill a pilot hole and then a ¼ hole through the housing and the internal bracket. This is for mounting the
1/8 phone jack for the actuation switch Phone Plug. |

Jack Mounting Hole |
|
Drill 2 - 3/32 holes, 1 on each side of the housing at the back - top, 3/8 down and 3/8 in from the back.
These holes are for the Rear Cover Plate. |

Back Cover Plate Mounting |
|
Remove the mechanism from the housing. |
- Drill a 7/64 hole in the white gear just inside the point, which points clockwise. Drill the hole through
the top and middle layer. See picture for location.
- Drill 2 – 3/32 holes for the switch. The switch is mounted on the flat space. The holes are 5/32 back from
the edge and 3/16 apart. See picture for location.
- Drill 1- 3/32 hole for access of a switch wire. The hole is about ¾ back of switch mounting holes. Look at
bottom of mechanism to guide for best location.
- Drill 2-3/32 holes for the Roller Lever Switch. The holes are 3/8 apart. Look at bottom of the
mechanism to allow for adequate clearance for the washer and nut assembly.
- Drill 1-3/32 hole for access of roller switch wire. The hole is about 3/8 back of Roller Switch mounting
holes.
- Drill 2-3/32 holes for the Dowel Guide Bracket. The holes are the end opposite the white gear, centered
2 7/16 from edge of the black plastic opposite the white gear. The holes are ¼ apart.

Basic Chassis |
Build the dowel linkage assembly.
- Fasten the soldered Switch Actuator assembly to the Dowel Drive Arm using 2-56 screws, 3/16 long.
Use split lock washers.
- Fasten the Dowel Drive Arm to the Drive Arm using a 6-32 screw 5/16 long. Use a flat washer between the
arms and fasten with a 6-32 fiber or nylon lock nut.
- Fasten the Wood Dowel to the Dowel Drive Arm using a 2-56 screw 9/16 long. Use a flat washer on each side
of the dowel and fasten with a 2-65 fiber or nylon lock nut.
- Put the Bushing in the Drive Arm and using a 4-40 screw ½ long place in the white gear. Grind a 4/40 nut
almost to the threads to allow clearance for the nut at the bottom level of the white gear assembly. Use a
locking liquid like "Locktite" to retain the assembly in the gear assembly.
- Use an 8-32 flat washer and a black screw with attached washer previously removed and place the Dowel
Drive Arm over the molded bushing on the side opposite the white gear
|

Dowel Drive Assembly |
- Modify CD cover
- Drill 2 - 3/32 holes for Battery Holder
- Drill 2 - 5/32 holes for Battery Bracket
- Drill 1 – 5/16 hole in back of cover to clear Dowel – Place hole ½ from bottom and approximately 2 ¾
from side. Line up hole with Dowel
|
- Mount the Switch Bracket using 2 - 2-56 screws, ¼ long. Use flat and split lock washers.
- Mount the Switch in the Switch Bracket
- Mount the Roller Lever Switch using 2 – 2-56 screws, ¼ long. Use flat and split locks.
- Mount the Dowel Guide using 2- 2-56 screws, 3/8 long. Use flat and split lock washers.
- Mount the 1/8 Phone Jack in the bracket drilled with the ¼ hole. Position the solder lugs up.
- Wire drive per Schematic CD Conversion
- Positive wire, (red), from motor (outside terminal) to SPST Switch, thread through hole back of switch
from bottom.
- From SPST Switch to Roller Lever Switch, to normally open contacts.
- Thread wire down through hole back of Lever Switch
- To pigtail for connection to plus side of Battery Holder wires.
- Wire 1/8" Phone Jack terminals across Roller Lever Switch terminals
- Thread negative wire, (white or black), from motor (inside terminal) to combine with pigtail to negative
side of Battery Holder.
- Remount assembly in housing. Phone Jack will be in position in the prior drilled ¼ hole. Fasten assembly
with 4 original screws.
|

Final Assembly - Top

Final Assembly - Bottom |
- Mount Back Cover Plate on back of housing. Mount with 2 – 2-56 screws ¼ long with flat washers, split
locks and nuts.
|

Rear Cover Plate |
|
Mount Battery Holder on the cover using 2 56 flat head screws 1/4 long with split locks and nuts. Cover
screw heads inside holder with electrical tape to insulate batteries.
Install 4 "AA" batteries and install the Battery Bracket using 6 32 screws ¼ long. Use split
locks and nuts. Install a strip of electrical tape inside the Bracket to insulate the batteries. |

Battery Pack Assembly |
|
Connect pigtail wires from assembly to the Battery Holder using electrical twist nuts.
Mount cover on unit and fasten with four screws from original assembly. Be sure that the Dowel fits
loosely through hole. Modify to fit. |

Hook-up of Batteries |
|
Apply notice of front cover, "SWITCH UNDER COVER ------ ON" |

|
Activation Switch Assembly |
|
Use a 35mm film canister. Drill a 5/8 hole in cover and a hole in the bottom sized to fit the
2-conductor cable to be used.
Fasten the 2-conductor cable through the drilled canister bottom to the Push Button Switch. Connect
the other end of the cable to the 1/8 Phone plug. |
